Mug rugs or wash rags.....hmmmm

Well I created these little rags or mug rugs..... I should have made them larger than the 6x6" they are so that I could use them as wash rags.... or smaller to use them like coasters.  I will probably use one as a face rag and gift the other two... we'll see...

I like the simplicity of white... and how texture can create interest.... although these don't have any extra special texture, I think I will focus on texture more when I try something white again.... I still have a lot to learn but am enjoying this new found hobby...

Here is a photo of Kaleb's scarf that he is weaving...although I have been helping... and Nathan tried a bit too... it's not done yet, but it will get done...

Well, I have had a few sessions here and there but I think I'm going to blog on something else....  weaving.... yup you read it right....
Nathan's teacher weaves rag rugs and had some small looms that she brings to class for the kids to try out at the end of the year.  He loved it.  I have always had an interest in it so I took the plunge and bought a rigid heddle loom.  You can look it up online to see the definition.... so I'm going to share some photos from our first try on it.  The kids want to start their own business and I'm inclined to try it... we'll see.  We have a lot to learn before we can sell anything but it's something that would be a good experience....maybe we will even try spinning our own fibers!

Something Beautiful

I've often thought that if I were to change my business name and incorporated.... I would choose the name Something Beautiful Studios....but I have thought about another use for the name.... a Bridal and Event show and Local Magazine.  I have a lot of things that I would like to do but not always an open door, but this is something I do hope to accomplish in the near future.  I have created an initial design for it....the designs are as follows:

I believe in simply designed logos that are easily recognizable... I hope this is one.  I'm hoping that the show might be more doable when the Oneill Community Center finally opens its doors.  One thing that I have discovered is it will be a challenge to convince more established businesses in the community to get getinvolved at first, so I will be gearing it towards up and coming businesses, home businesses and people who are willing to step out and try something new even if no profit is involved at first.  So am I dreaming?  Maybe.  Is it a possible dream?  I think so.  I know of at least one other person interested in it and I think there are more out there.  Is there a market?  I believe there is.... so let's dream and maybe it'll come true some day.
